With Love, Snail Mail

Have you ever received a card in the mail? Maybe a birthday card from an out-of-town relative or a random “thankful you’re my friend” or Happy First Mother’s Day card? Among your bills and spam you find a personalized card just for you. Didn’t it make your day?!

Since I was a a little girl I have received cards in the mail. I remember my great-grandmother sending a card for every occasion and it would have a $5 bill in it. I still have all those cards. That simple gesture inspired me to do the same thing in my adult years.

Note: If you get a card from me it probably won’t have $5 in it but it will have heartfelt words!

A simple card can mean so much! It is a piece of paper that someone who cares for you took the time to purchase or make, put their heartfelt thoughts, seal it up, address and stamp it sending it off with a smile.

That smile is because they hope you’ll smile, feeling the love that’s behind it when you open and read it. A card, sent through snail mail, is a simple gesture. Yes, some cards can be expensive, but a handmade card would mean just as much.

I’m a card sender! It could be that I’m old fashioned (because, really I am) but as a child I just remember getting those cards from my great-grandmother and thinking how special I was that she thought of me.

So today, tap into your vintage self; get off the phone and snail mail a card to someone. They could live in the same town, across the country or someone you even see everyday. I promise that you’re small gesture will put a smile on their face and a ping on their heart.

PS: Receiving a card in the mail is WAY different than a text! Just sayin...
